SCOPE
All aspects of coal combustion by-product utilization will be covered including: Mine Reclamation, Backhauling, Chemistry, Mineralogy, Concrete Applications, New Uses, Ash Beneficiation, NOx/SOx, Agricultural Uses, Legal & Regulatory Issues

WORLDWIDE
Worldwide participation is expected. The ~300 participants at the 1995 Symposium were from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Holland, India, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, New Zealand, Russia, Spain, South Africa, and the United States.

BARTON A. THOMAS MEMORIAL AWARD
This award honoring the memory of Barton A. Thomas is presented to the person whose presentation (oral or poster) is chosen by a panel of judges to be the most outstanding of the Symposium. The 1995 winner was Ronald L. Hamric of the Patriot Mining Company, Inc.

PRESENTATIONS
The language of the Symposium is English.
Oral presentations will be 30 minutes in duration: 25 minute speech + 5 minute question/answer.
Poster presentations will be set up the evening of October 19 and will remain up until the afternoon of October 22. They will be allotted 8 feet of table space or an easel.

ABSTRACTS
Please see Presenter (Oral & Poster) information if you would like to apply for an oral or poster presentation. We can accept a maximum of 75 papers. The deadline for submitting an abstract is March 1, 1997. A decision concerning acceptance will be made March 3, 1997.

EXHIBITORS
Exhibits will be allotted a 10 foot wide by 8 foot deep space in the exhibit area. The exhibit area will be open during all breaks and closed during presentations. It will be open during the Monday evening reception. If you are interested in displaying an exhibit, see Exhibitor information. The deadline for application is March 1, 1997.

SPONSORS
Full and partial sponsorships will be available for breakfasts, coffee breaks, and receptions. A poster, provided by the CAER, will be displayed at the event acknowledging your sponsorship. If your company is interested, please contact Gretchen Tremoulet (see below).

PUBLICATIONS
Proceedings Volume: One copy of the Proceedings volume will be distributed to each attendee. It will contain the agenda, a list of sponsors, a list of exhibitors, a list of the Technical Program Committee members, a participant list (name/institution/address/phone/fax/email), and a short paper for each presentation (oral and poster). Presenters are required to submit a paper for this volume.

Fuel Issue: Presenters will have the option of submitting a manuscript of their presentations to Fuel, which will publish them in a special issue devoted to the Ash Symposium. The manuscripts will go through a review process.
